What is a First Generation Homebuyer?
In Rhode Island, RIHousing defines a First Generation Homebuyer as a first time homebuyer whose parents never owned a home during the homebuyer’s lifetime or lost their home to foreclosure or short sale and does not currently own a home. Homebuyers who lived in foster care are also eligible.
Eligible homebuyers can receive up to $25,000 towards a down payment and closing costs.
Eligible communities include Central Falls, East Providence, Woonsocket, Pawtucket, parts of Providence and one census tract in the north end of Newport.
Helping first time homebuyers is one of my specialties. This program is a great opportunity to help more Rhode Islanders become homeowners. Contact me for more information on this program.
